The Roseville Fire Department was organized in 1926 when that section of Erin Township incorporated into the village of Roseville. The first pumper was a 1926 Graham Brothers with a pirsch pump. The truck was kept at the dodge brother’s motor vehicles at 26359 Gratiot just north of Frazho. The building was commonly known as the Jahns Bldg. Prior to the organization of the Roseville Fire Department Residents of that part of Erin Township were entirely dependent upon the Halfway (East Detroit / Eastpoint) Fire Department. Older citizens of Roseville can still remember the old halfway model T fire Truck roaring out Gratiot in the early days. That model T truck has been restored and is located in the Eastpoint fire station on 9-mile road.

The first fire chief of the Roseville fire department was Edward Pulaski. Adolph Hartung succeeded him in 1927. 1929 saw the completion of the new municipal building at 27700 Gratiot at the corner of Meier rd. The fire station consisted of the first and second floor at the rear of the building with four truck bays that exited onto Meier rd the building also housed the police department, Jail, Water Department and all other village municipalities.

Following Chief Hartungs untimely death in 1935, Worth E. Woods was appointed chief. After Woods’s retirement in 1937, Harold Flechsig, A 9-year veteran of the department began serving what would become 30 years at the department helm.
